Founded in 2015, CraftsVillage™ started out with just an online art store to easily shop for Art & Craft products such as Art Supplies & Craft Tools as well as locally made African Arts, Afro Fashion Items, Wall Arts, Paintings and more from different sellers across Nigeria on the go. The platform grew to feature an online art directory that help consumers search, find & connect easily with listed artists, crafters and creative businesses across Nigeria. This portal, CraftsVillage™ MarketHUB has grown over the years to become the leading online hub that promotes and empowers the Nigeria Art & Crafts Community by providing an Online Marketplace, Business Directory, Art Forum, Art Blog & Jobs Portal for artists, crafters and other creative businesses in Nigeria.
In 2017, the brand expanded further to not just an online platform when it launched it’s Art Academy in Lagos to teach creative art and crafts courses for Beginners, Intermediates & Advanced levels. This is an initiative of the Crafts Village™ Project focused on identifying and teaching Art & Crafts as a source of livelihood for people interested in building a skill or starting a business from the creative trade. The CraftsVillage™ Academy offer courses that cuts across different art categories such as Painting & Drawing, Tie & Dye, Knitting & Crocheting, Paper Crafts & lots more. The academy also offer it’s studio spaces for rent to Artists & Crafters alike to hold their trainings as well as a co-working space for daily works.
In 2020, CraftsVillage™ launched it’s Events Outfit, Art4Fun By CraftsVillage, an outfit that creates fun experiences with Art for everyone. This outfit offers Paint sessions, Pottery Making, String Art Making, Bottle Painting & more for all events. It also organizes fun hangouts such as Sip & Paint for both Kids & Adults, as well as Art Rentals Service for events.
And finally in 2021, CraftsVillage™ Limited launched it’s flagship store, CraftsVillage™ African Store at the Adeniran Ogunsanya Mall (Shoprite), Surulere. This is yet another initiative of the CraftsVillage™ Project to bring affordable art and crafts closer to consumers and art enthusiasts across Nigeria. Kicking off with the Surulere environ, this initiative is aimed at setting up an affordable art & crafts store in every neighborhood across Nigeria.
Ogunbekun Olaitan is a graduate of the prestigious University of Lagos where he bagged a Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry. He has accrued several years experience in the e-commerce & online business industry where his skill set has been further broadened to include Business Development, Web Design, Web Development and Management, Digital Marketing, Search Engine Optimization & Content Management.
Ogunbekun Olaitan is a multi-potential creative guru who has personally built himself in several creative skills which include Digital Prints, Branding Services, and Graphic Designing. He is also a reputable Paper Crafts Artist who specializes in Handmade Greeting Cards and have impressed up to the Presidency level of the Country.
Born into the Ogunbekun Royal Family, of Ibeju-Lekki Town in Lagos. He is a Yoruba Native bred and brought up in Surulere, Lagos. He is married to Dr. Khafilat Ogunbekun and blessed with a Son.
